Saturday
Relax and regroup
Lately, I have been doing lots of reading and enjoying the outdoors. Caleb is loving the outdoors too. In the evenings we like to spread a blanket out on our lawn and play with toys or blow bubbles. Last Saturday Devin and I finished building a box around my new strawberry patch, complete with chicken-wire cover to keep the birds and neighbor kids out ;) The grass seeds and daisy seeds that we planted are starting to come up and the dig of mint that I got from my neighbor is also doing well. In sum, life is good. Devin is gone pretty much every bit of the week, but we have our weekends together and life is going great.

Once again for Memorial Day Weekend we went out to Gilmore to be away and to enjoy the outdoor wildernessishness. Despite the unfavorable weather forecast, the weather was beautiful! Not to hot, not to cold, just right for being outdoors. Last year memorial day happened to be the week before I delivered Caleb, so (if you care to go back and check) there is a picture of me with my pregnant belly shooting. For old time sake I decided to take my shot-of-the-year again in Gilmore. (Shooting is not my thing, but I am learning to be a good sport about it...) On our way back home we stopped to see the old Charcoal Kilns (beehive looking things in above pics). They were interesting.
And since I have been a slacker: Last Sunday we went up to Yellowstone on a day trip with some of Devin's family. It was also a beautiful day to be outdoors. I thought I might include a couple of those pics here as well.

Arlene
A couple of months ago the lady I work for asked me if I would be her Diner girl 'Arlene' for her daughter's birthday party. Knowing that Diane's birthday parties are always amazingly awesome I told her I would love to be her diner girl. I spent most of the day Thursday helping Diane dress her kitchen as a 1950s Diner, then Friday I went in to get 1950s hair and donned the Diner girl costume Diane had made for me and headed to the party! Now the pictures are much better at telling you about the party than I am:

Party outline:
- Girls arrive and get in matching pink and brown P.J.s that say Eat-Sleep-Scrap on the front
- Girls have their pictures taken (there was a professional photographer)
- Girls are given a lesson in photo taking, then spend some time taking pictures (they were each given a disposable camera)
- Girls come to Arlene's Diner for dinner while photos are being developed
- Cake and presents
- Girls go to a local scrapbook store and learn special scrapping techniques and put together a darling scrapbook to take home (they were also each given $5 to spend at the scrapbook store)
- Girls return to Arlene's Diner and Ice Cream shoppe for desserts
- Girls watch a movie (it was a late-over party)
Mother's Day
Nature Park
oh yeah, I have a blog
You may have wondered what happened to the Nefs during April? There was a definite lack of blog entries. Well, lots has been going on. I finished my semester in school. Caleb and I spent a week in Utah. Lots of yard work (preparing ground, spreading weed killer, planting grass seeds, flower seeds, getting a dig of mint from my neighbor, etc. etc.) Devin started his new semester of classes. And--drum roll goes here--we built a new deck!!

Doesn't the new deck look so nice! Yes, there are a few finishing touches to do on the under side, but that will happen sometime this summer...I can even say that I helped work on it (though all of the real work was done by my wonderful husband Devin along with Adam, Steve, and Dalin-friends and neighbors we owe cookies and brownies to...) We also owe a special huge thanks to my dad who provided the redwood for this project! Thanks Dad, the deck is wonderful!! Additionally, thanks mom for telling me to put a couple of flower boxes on it, I do love having the flowers!
