Memorial Weekend

For Memorial Day Devin and I headed up to the mountain cabin of our friend, Adam. (pictured next to Devin loading his gun).We went exploring on the 4-wheeler we borrowed from Devin's mom (thanks mom!) and did some shooting practice. Yeah, that is me with the gun and the belly peeking out...Devin is plugging my ears for me because we only brought 2 sets of earplugs. I didn't hit anything, but Adam and Devin sure did.The day was a tad bit nippy, with rain off and on and even snow for a little bit, but we lit a fire in the cabin and had a fun day of it anyway!

Sunday this weekend the weather was beautiful! so after church Devin and I packed a lunch and headed out for a picnic. How wonderful it was to enjoy the outdoors together. We ate lunch, read a talk from the conference issue of the ensign, and pretended that we were kids again.

And yes I am leaning in to give Devin a kiss in the shadow picture. I think that is a different view of the big belly. We are getting excited for our new baby boy!

The Scoop on Baby

Boy I tell you this baby boy sure keeps us on our toes. Here's the happy news of the week however: my baby liked to lay breech, or sideways (head to my left, feet to my right). earlier in pregnancy this is not a problem, in fact it is pretty well expected that the baby will be wherever he wants to be, but as I came closer and closer to my due date he was still in that position. My doctor had planned to have me schedule and External Version where he would turn the baby from the outside for next week if my baby was still breech at my appointment yesterday. He wanted to be absolutely certain that we knew where that baby was positioned before we made such an appointment, so he took me strait in for a quick ultrasound, and the baby's head was down! just a couple of hours earlier he was still sideways, so he literally turned right before my appointment :) I was so thrilled I cried.
With that little detail of positioning taken care of I approached my doctor about the possibility of delivering with a midwife if he is not on-call when I go to deliver (there are 3 midwives that are part of the same clinic he works in). I explained to him that I would be more comfortable with a midwife than a doctor I was not familiar with. He considered and told me yes that would be fine if I would like that since my heart is stable and my cardiologist said things there should be great, I have tolerated the stent in my urinary tract very well, and the baby is now in position. Then he invited me to deliver with a midwife regardless of whether he is on call or not. He wants me to follow up the remainder of my appointments with the midwives and he is going to talk to them about me and tell them what to expect and do should anything unexpected happen while I am in labor. Just a couple of months ago the possibility of having a midwife was out of the question. I left the office in a very happy mood.

Watermelon

Do I look like a Watermelon? I feel like a watermelon!! Last Thursday we had our neighbors the Barneys over for dinner, those are their two girls, Hallie and Kaibrei. We have lots of good times together. There I am in the only skirt that I can still fit into...
This last couple of weeks I have been doing a lot of reading. I have really been enjoying books by Shannon Hale, I have wanted to read some of her books for ages, and now I finally have the chance. I have also been doing lots of reading about labor and delivery (learning about all of the hospital options, and the different pain relief options, etc. etc.) as well as reading about breast feeding. In addition to reading I have been washing all of the new baby things, in all of my reading I found out that that is something you are supposed to do, so I am.

Devin went on a fathers and sons camp out with his brothers and nephews last weekend, they had a good time (or so they tell me). I spent most of Friday at the Laundromat (with my book) washing his sleeping bag so that he would have it that night. He rolled it up wet last time he used it and forgot to let it dry out so it smelled of mildew.

Fun Projects

These are the projcts that I did last week.

Ever seen a Boat House?

Here are some 33 Weeks along pictures taken today.
Can't quite show you on a blog how I walk, personally I think I walk like a duck, however Devin says I have a cute pregnant swagger. Whatever

I thought that I would show you all my neighbor's unique house. Around here it is known as 'The Boat House'

The picture on the right is taken from our front porch.

Last weekend we had a big bonfire out at Devin's mom's place:

I had lots of fun this week doing craft projects that I have wanted to do for a long time. First I made some Winnie the Pooh wall hangings for my soon to become nursery (right now it is half nursery half other stuff). I used some puzzles that I purchased at the dollar store awhile back, they turned out super cute. My other project was painting some wooden airplanes to hang in my bathroom. Those turned out cute as well. Both of those projects have been on my list of things I want to do for months now.

The weather here is beginning to moderate:) Finally! we will likely get a few more random snow storms, but I have planted a flower pot of pansies for my front porch in celebration of the warmer weather. Devin and I spent a little time out with his mom in her garden on Saturday. She is planning on planting the majority of the garden next weekend, we will be in Utah, so we told her that we would help with all of the prep work right now. Devin got her tiller working again, and I spent time getting weeds and dead growth out of her strawberry patch.
