Table Mountain

We did it! We got to the top of Table Mountain! This was the hike we have been working up to all summer long! Devin was so very determined to take me up Table Rock, I hope that I was a good sport about it. Here is a photo review of our trip:

7:20 am, we arrive at the trail head. Caleb is really pumped up:

Caleb and Daddy, all ready to go:

A good hour into the hike we were passing some other hikers who were resting on the trail, so I asked them to take a picture:

Sleeper:

Yes we climbed that:

On the Top:

Caleb and the Grand (Teton):

The Grand, The Middle, and the South (those are the three big beautiful mountains that everyone comes to this area to see, and the reason to climb Table Mountain):

Us at the top:

Can you see them? there are 2 Moose in those trees:

That is pretty much what the whole trail down looked like:

So Devin made the hike sound easier than it was. Over 8 hours in a backpack is about the equivalent of a 12 hour drive in a car seat for Caleb. After doing the hike I can't believe that Devin carried Caleb up and down all that. Insanity! It was great to be together as a family, and I will say that the view of the Tetons was absolutely breathtaking. Was it worth it? I will let you know when my calves stop aching...

I'll do it Myself!

Up until today Caleb had no interest in feeding himself with a spoon or fork. Suddenly today, he won't eat unless he feeds himself. He wanted applesauce, but not if I fed it to him. Oh, yeah--he wanted a spoon for each hand too. Pretty good for a first timer.

Some other things Caleb does all by himself:
Walk
Stand up
Go up and down stairs
Sign-hello, goodbye, more, eat, drink, all done, and (also just today) please!
Look at books
Make a 'vroooom' sound when playing with cars (I didn't teach him that!)
Groove to music (okay, so Devin and I did start that one...)
Give hugs
Turn the TV on and off

Our Best Friends' Wedding

They finally did it! Devin's old buddy and best friend Adam and my old room mate and close friend Amanda were married in Manti on Friday. It has been a long time coming. Amanda returned from her mission in Equador eight days before her wedding, and is adjusting to the sudden change in marital status surprisingly well considering...Adam is happier and giddier than a kid on Christmas morning. We are very happy that they are finally 'old married folks' like us, because hanging out with Adam this last year and a half was getting to be a chore;)

Best Two Years

Today is our 2nd Anniversary! We are still as happy as the day we were married (happier because of Caleb). I have posted some candid pictures from our wedding day in honor of our anniversary, the wedding of our good friends Adam and Amanda this friday, and the wedding of Devin's sister in a couple of weeks.

Bridal Shower for Tiff

Since wedding time is so close for my sister-in-law Tiffany, I threw her a bridal shower which took place last Saturday. The party turned out wonderful. We all love our happy outgoing Tiffany. Thanks to all who made this party happen!

Reunion, Reunion

If you have been wondering what we have been up to the answer is Party after Party!! Wow have we had a great vacation. We went to the Bowthorpe Family Reunion near West Yellowstone over the end of July. Here are some shots:
Caleb and Lynzee on the Ranger:
Caleb, Breanna, and Skyler kicking it outside (and feeding the friendly chipmunks)

Outside the cabin

Evening in the Great Room (Sky and Oly playing tuneskies)
After the Bowthorpe Reunion we hardly had time to wash laundry and re-pack before heading out to Washington for the Nef Family Reunion. Below are some classic shots:
Caleb eating corn on the cob. He won't eat it if we cut it off the cob for him, he likes to bite it off the cob like everyone else...

Caleb with the future Mr. and Mrs. (Caleb is deciding if Spencer is good enough to be his uncle in this picture...hehehe)

All the ladies with the Doilies that Grandma Cook made for Christmas in July(August).

Caleb and Jake, partying at Chuck-e-Cheese ;)
We love being with our families! Great talk, great food, lots of laughs.

Caleb delighted the families with his new found mode of transportation: WALKING ! That's right Caleb is a walker now. Reunion time is when he decided that he just wanted to get up and go, so he did. Hip Hip!!
