June Odds and Ends

I feel like I have been such a slacker about blog updates. Looking back, everything important is here on the blog. I guess that we just haven't had a ton going on. So, here are just a few 'extras'.
One morning Caleb saw my camera sitting on the couch. I asked him if he wanted me to take his picture and he said yes. So here he is, on just a normal morning in the Nef house.
Grandma, we never did say thanks for all of the great sand toys. Caleb has sure loved playing in his sand box these last few weeks. We end up with sand in the bath tub every night, but I don't mind that so much.

Camping Trip

With Devin in school and me expecting a baby we were starting to think that we just wouldn't make it out camping this summer. But this last weekend everything just worked out, so we went. It will be our only camping/hiking trip of the year :( We took our friends Adam and Amanda (their link is to the right if you want to see more pictures of this camping trip) along with us and went to Darby Canyon with the intention of hiking up to the Wind Caves again. We did that hike last summer and loved it. As it was, this time there was too much snow to get up to the cave, but the hike was beautiful and worth it anyway. Above is Devin and Caleb cooking our tin foil dinners in the fire Friday night. Below is Caleb and me, waiting for dinner and listening to the nearby canyon stream. (Then there is Devin and Caleb cooking dinners again)

Here are some pictures from the trail. Yeah I went hiking.

Caleb went hiking some too (but only a little, Devin didn't like Caleb's short-legged pace...)

And for a change in scenery, we took belly pictures out on our hike. Much more exciting than my living room wall. So, here is a 32 weeks along pic. (That is 8 mos. pregnant for anyone who doesn't follow the weeks-pregnant stuff)
Yeah, I know, I don't look 8 mos. pregnant.

You know you're pregnant when...

  • You lean over so the toothpaste drips into the sink, but it hits your belly instead.
  • You can only unload half of the dishwasher at a time. All that bend-stand-bend-stand stuff just isn't working out for you.
  • You have odd dreams about having a baby, really really odd dreams, yet all you want to do is sleep sleep sleep!
  • Your eyes are always bigger than your stomach.
  • You have to go to the bathroom every half hour on the clock.
  • You spend hours and weeks with your husband talking about baby names, yet still don't know what you are going to name this wiggler that is inside of you.
  • The most essential part of vacation planning is how close you will be to your 'due date' and how far you will be from home.
  • Your belly button is referred to as a turkey timer that has popped.
  • That shirt that was so cute on you last week just isn't cute on you now. And that tent you thought you would never wear is the cutest thing in the closet.
  • Oh, yeah, did I mention that you frequently get a kick in the ribs or your side. You didn't even know that the baby could reach that spot.

Home again and Birthday!

Ok, the pictures are in reverse order, so lets just go through them that way... Caleb turned 2 this week!! We celebrated with friends and family and cupcakes on his birthday. Here he is ready to blow out his candles. Sunday Night, after opening birthday presents at my mom's house, Caleb and cousins tried out his new birthday sand toys. What Fun!
Here is Caleb, opening his sand toys...
Caleb and Aunt Sarah, preparing for the birthday song. My mom and Sarah created this awesome car cake for him.
And lastly, Monday morning I was awakened from sleep by a buzzing bee!! And that bee got me, right on the palm of my right hand. So here is a picture for the record of how that bee sting made my whole hand swell up. I drove home that day anyway, good thing I didn't have to drive a stick shift...

Trip to the Zoo

While we were still in Utah, great-grandpa Smurthwaite took us to the Zoo. Caleb was lovin' it. We saw lots of animals, and we even made it to the bird show! Grandpa also treated us to some icecream. Caleb is just lucky I guess...

Moments

Here are some videos I have tried to get on the blog a couple of times before. Technology was being frustrating. But I got it to work here at my mom's house, so enjoy!

(He is saying 'boing, boing, boing...')

Short and Sweet

Here is my fresh, new look! (oh, and a peek at my little baby bump)
Caleb and I have been hanging out at my parent's house in Utah. It has been nice. I miss Devin though, and so does Caleb.
